This award recognizes an operator member who demonstrates exceptional leadership in waste reduction, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Winners have implemented and expanded innovative and creative programs focused on reduction of single use disposables, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, locally sourced food (such as the Good Food Purchasing Program), energy conservation, food donation programs, food waste reduction, composting and recycling, water conservation, educating consumers, and more.

ENTRY REQUIRementS:

      • – All entries must be submitted in a single Word document that does not exceed 4 pages
        – Nominees must be an AHF member in good standing
      • – Sustainability project should have been implemented within the last two years.

        • – Timeliness and applicability of project for other AHF members

Entry must include the following on the front page:

      • – Nominator’s Name
        – Nominator’s Worksite/Company
        – Nominator’s Email Address
        – Nominee’s Name
        – Nominee’s Facility
        – Nominee’s Email Address
        – Nominee’s Preferred Phone Number
        – Nominee’s Facility Location
        – Nominee’s Facility Size/Bed Count

All entries must answer at least FIVE of the following questions, one from each criteria category:

Question answers should be 750 words or less and submitted in a Word Document – download the Word Submission Form below. You may use photos to illustrate points.

      • Project complexity and scope
        • – What is the scope of your sustainability initiatives, and what are some of the key challenges you have faced in implementing them?
        • – How have you prioritized your sustainability initiatives, and how have you ensured that they are aligned with your organization’s overall goals?
        • – What are some of the key lessons you have learned about managing complex sustainability projects?

        Resourcefulness and creativity of sustainability model

        • – What innovative and creative solutions have you implemented to reduce waste and improve sustainability?
        • – How have you leveraged existing resources to implement your sustainability initiatives, and how have you found new ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency?
        • – How have you engaged your staff and customers in your sustainability efforts, and how have you built support for your initiatives?

        Well defined metrics to measure success

        • – What specific metrics have you used to measure your progress on sustainability?
        • – How do you collect and analyze your data, and how do you use it to inform your decision-making?
        • – How do you communicate your sustainability results to your stakeholders, and how do you demonstrate the impact of your initiatives?

        Results

        • – What specific results have you achieved in terms of waste reduction, sustainability, and environmental stewardship?
        • – How have your sustainability initiatives impacted your organization’s financial performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction?
        • – What are your plans for continuing to improve your sustainability performance in the future?

        Timeliness and applicability of project for other AHF members

        • – How have you managed to implement your sustainability initiatives on time and within budget?
        • – What are some of the key challenges that other AHF members may face in implementing similar initiatives, and how can they overcome these challenges?
        • – What advice would you give to other AHF members who are considering implementing similar sustainability initiatives?

      • Optional: This submission can be accompanied by a one-page synopsis and no more than ten (10) PowerPoint slides.
